Melpominee

The unique discipline of the Daughters of Cacophony, Melpominee allows the character to employ various effects using the power of his/her voice. This includes mesmerizing tunes that captivate audiances with their beauty, to songs that drive the unfortunate listeners utterly mad. As a rule, the user may never have a higher Melpominee rating then his/her Performance rating. Also Melpominee effects both body and soul, so even those stricken deaf can hear it and be effected by it. All Melpominee powers are bound exclusively to the user, so they cannot for example, be transferred over the radio or stored on a disc.

Powers:

1 - The Missing Voice:
This power allows the user to throw a secondary voice anywhere within sight. This voice is controlled independantly from the user's actual voice, meaning the user can speak using both voices at once. The Daughters would frequently use this power to impersonate a rival's voice, or use it to sing hauntingly beautiful duets.(No roll required, the user may use this power freely as long as she/he concentrates. However, any action other then speaking or singing incurs a -2 dices penalty because the user must concentrate on using this power while preforming the other task.)

2 - Phantom Speaker:
Allows the user to speak to anyone with whom he/she has more then passing familiarity. The only distance limit is that it must be night where the victim is. The user may speak, sing or may whatever other noises he/she wants. (Costs a bloodpoint, the user rolls Wits + Performance at diff 7. Each success allows for a turn of speech, 3 or more successes allow for an entire scene of speech. Only the target can hear the user, only someone with Auspex at level 3 or higher may eavesdrop, and even then that person must be attempting to listen in.

3 - Madrigal:
Through song, the user may direct emotions into his/her audiance. The user may inspire courage, hope, despair, fear, happyness or any other emotion at his/her desire. (The user rolls Charisma + Performance at diff 7.  Each success allows for one-fifth of the user's audiance to be effected, with successes beyond 5 having no additional effect. The Storyteller determines exacly whom in the audiance is effected. Listeners who believe they are being effected may resist by spending a Willpower point, but they must have reason to believe they are being manipulated. The song the user sings must also reflect the emotion he/she wishes to project. No one's going to mob the security at a concert because the user sings High-Hopes, but they might if he/she sings Cop-Killer. The Storyteller should decide how subjects react when influenced by this power based on that subject's personality.)
   -  Toreador's Bane: Duplicating the effect of the Toreador curse, this power allows the user to sing, entrancing all nearby who will do nothing but sit and listen. (Charisma + Music, against a diff of the target's Willpower. Incase the target is a Toreador, difficulty is decreased by 2.) (Alternative power)

4 - Siren's Beckoning:
Drive a target insane through song. (The user and victim make an extended, resisted roll, the user rolling Manipulation + Performance at a diff of the victim's Willpower and the victim rolling Willpower at a difficulty of the user's Appearence + Performance. If at any point the user scores 5 or more successes then the victim, the victim gains a temporary derangement or Psychological flaw or the Storyteller's choice. The effect lasts one night for every success over 5. If the user scores a net 20 successes, the user may choose to make the derangement permanent.)

5 - Virtuosa:
At this level the user has gained such mastery over the discipline that he/she can now use it's lower level powers on several targets at once. (Upon gaining this power, the user may effect a number of targets using Phantom Speaker or Siren's Beckoning equal to the user's Stamina + Performance. The user must spend a bloodpoint for every 5 targets beyond the first to be effected.)
